Air X-Tension

A van is a great way to travel. It was never meant to be the whole camp.

The vehicle handles flexibility and the ability to stop where the day takes them. What it doesn't handle well is when you want to stay. When the site is good and you want a place to eat, read, or sit out of the sun without folding yourself back inside a vehicle.

The X-Tension Air is an room beside your van with inflatable beams, so the structure forms as you inflate it. It connects to your vehicle's awning rail and creates 100 square feet of weather-protected space. When you're done, it packs down and travels with you.

Description

The problem isn't the van. It's what happens when you stop.

Van travel works well in motion. The vehicle handles flexibility, mobility, the ability to go where the day leads. What it doesn't handle is the moment you want to stay. When the site is worth it and you want somewhere to eat, sit, or wait out rain without folding back inside.

The instinct is to make do. For short stops, that's fine. For the trips worth taking, it stops being enough.

Most van travelers who want more reach for a traditional pole awning. What they find is a setup sequence, rigid joints that need re-tensioning when wind moves through, and a structure that asks you to manage it rather than live in it.

Isabella has been engineering canvas and structure systems since 1957. The X-Tension Air is built from that knowledge. Not a shortcut to a simpler awning. A considered answer to what a van awning actually needs to do.

About
Structure without assembly.

Inflate the beams and the frame forms itself. There is no sequence to memorize, no joints to force into position. The structure simply becomes stable.

The result is a setup that feels like arriving, not assembling.

A room that adjusts.

The X-Tension Air has configurable panels that open for airflow and close against rain. The structure holds its shape across every configuration without re-tensioning or readjustment.

You change the room to suit the conditions. The room doesn't ask anything back.

About
About
Built for where travel actually takes you.

The X-Tension Air is not a fair-weather awning. The materials are chosen for repeated inflation cycles, sustained UV exposure, and years of seasonal use. The structure is designed to be packed, transported, and deployed regularly without degrading.

The inflatable beams flex under wind load rather than resisting it at a rigid joint. A pole awning stressed at its joints will fail at those points. The beams redistribute that load across the entire structure and return to shape. In rain, in wind, without intervention.

For van and motorhome travelers who stop somewhere worth staying.

The X-Tension Air is for travelers who want a real room beside their vehicle. People who find a site, stay for a few days, and want somewhere to live outside the van without managing a complicated setup every time.

It is not for travelers who move camp daily and need the lightest possible kit. A simpler shade solution will serve that trip better.

If you have been making do with a vehicle interior on trips that deserved more space, and you have held off because nothing felt worth the setup effort, this is built for that moment.

Your van just got bigger.
